ADDINGTON (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, August 26. At the Addington market the store sheep entry totalled 1665, against 1813 last week. The attendance was the smallest seen at the yards for a long time, but competition was keen, specially for ewes and wethers. Good ewes showed an advance of 1/- to 1/6 a head, and medium and inferior the same as last week, while ewes witli lambs also maintained their values. The best figure was 31/3 for halfbreds in lamb to Leicester rams, other pens making 28/3. The highest price for ewes and lambs was IS/6, all counted. Old ewes showed a slight improvement, prices ranging from 12/- to 15/11. The yarding of hoggets included one pen of hall’bred ewes which sold at 39/0. Others made from 29/- to 32/-. Prices for wether hoggets showed a slight decline, the best being 21/9, others from 11/-. to 16/6. The best price for grown wethers was 28/-. others made from 19/0 to 24/9. The fat cattle sale was very keen. The entry was larger than’ for some sales past, totalling 507. Prime steers showed an advance of about 15/- a head, and the best of the heifers a slightly lower increase. Best beef made from 44/6 to 46/ per 1001 b., and special pens another 2/-; good 41/6 to 44/-; medium, 39/- to 41./-1 secondary, down to 34/-. Of the high quality lines one lot of eight averaged £22/18/3, nine heifers £l5/11/4, and eight steers averaged £22/5/-. The fat sheep entry totalled 4000, wethers again predominating. Prices for wethers showed a slight decline on last week’s values, but ewes showed a rise of 1/- to 1/6 a head. The best price was 51/1 for seven out of a line of 48 which averaged 48/9. Ewes were in shorter supply and competition was very keen. One truck of southern ewes made from 34/7 to 35/10, averaging 35/-. Another line of two-tooths made 36/10. The porker entry was similar in size to last week’s. Values rose from the outset by 5/- to 6/- a head. Choppers were in small supply and values showed little change. The yarding of baconers was about double that of last week and the sale of good quality pigs was very keen. Porkers made from £2/16/6 to £4/13/6, average a lb. 9Jd. to llld.; baconers from £4/9/6 to £5 11/6, average 7Jd. to SJd.; choppers from £3/b/- to £6/8/6.
WESTFIELD (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 26. A small entry of ox beef sold under steady competition and a firm sale resulted at Westfield. There was a small yarding of cows and heifers. Bidding was keen and. values were firm. Extra choice ox to 40/- 1001 b.; choice and prime, 31/to 39/-; secondary and plain, 33/- to 35/-; extra prime young cow and heifer. 30/to 34/-; choice and prime. 26/- to 28/-; ordinary cow beef, 22/- to 24/-: extra heavy prime steers, £l6/10/- to £l9; heavy, £l4/10/- to £l5/10/-; lighter, £l3 to £l4; light, £ll/10/- to £l2/10/-: small and unfinished, £9 to £lO/10/-; extra lieavv prime young cows and heifers, £ll to £l3/17/6; heavy, £9 to £lO/10/-; lighter, £7 to £8; other killable cows, £5 to £6/10/-. A steady demand for an average entry of wethers resulted in values ruling on a par with late rates. There was a. t large entry of ewes and though competition was good values were lower than last week. A full entry of lambs sold under steady competition and realized full late rates. Extra heavy prime lambs, £l/13/- to £1 15/-; heavy. £l/8/- to £l/11/6; medium, £l/5/- to £l/7/-; lighter, £l/1/- to £1 3/-; light. 18/- to £1; small and plain 16/- to 17/-. A small yarding of calves was insufficient for butchers’ requirements. Bidding was very keen for all classes and values showed a further improvement. No extra heavy prime runners were penned. Light and indium runners, £5/10/- to £9; heavy vealers, £6/15/- to £7/15/-; medium, £5 10/- to £6/10/-: light, £4/10/- to £5/5/-; small, £1 to £4/5/-; unfinished and bucket fed, 10/- to £l/15/-; bobby and rough, 3/- to 18/-. There was a medium entry of pigs. Values for all classes ruled steady at recent quotations. Choppers, £l/10/- to £3/10/-; heavy baconers, £4/14/- to £5; medium, £4/6/- to £4/9/-; light. £4 to £4/5/-; heavy porkers. £3/18/- to £4/3/-; medium, £3/8/- to £3/15/-; light, £3 io £3/5/-; small and unfinished, £2/9/- to £2/15/-; stores, £2/2/- to £2/8/-; slips, £l/9/- to £l/15/-; weaners, 17/- to £l/7/-.
WANGANUI Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, August 26. Freeman R. Jackson and Co. report that despite an exceptionally cold and wet day the entry as advertised for the Wanganui stock sale came forward to a fair attendance. Prices generally were on a par with last week, except the dairy entry, of which better numbers came forward than last week. Dairy cows were easier, but good early calving heil'ers maintained late rates. A light entry of pigs again met a very keen sale.

PAHIATUA Dominion Special Service. PAHIATUA, August 26. The Associated Auctioneers report that at the Pahiatua sale a small yarding of sheep and dairy cattle and a medium entry of pigs were offered to a large attendance of local buyers. In the dairy section values remained firm on late rates, aud practically a total clearance was made at auction. Fat wethers were in short supply and realizations here were up on previous sales. A few pens of wether hoggets sold at late rates. Pigs were in keen demand, but in some instances the prices received were not a fair indication of the market, as the purchasers required the breeds for breeding purposes, and were willing to pay more than if required for fattening.

MASTERTON Dominion Special Service. MA.STERTON, August 26. Despite cold aud wintry weather, a good yarding of all classes of stock was forward at the weekly sale at Masterton today, and there was a large and representative attendance of buyers. Fat sheep were again in demand, .with fat ewes selling at last week’s sale rates and fat wethers showing a hardening in price. Store sheep were iu demand and wether hoggets <»f medium sorts met with a spirited sale. Fat. cattle, mostly unfinished cows and heifers, made rates well up to those ruling at recent sales. A total clearance was effected under the hammer. Realizations are:—
