HUMANE SOCIETY AWARD

PALMERSTON N„ August 26. At a publie gathering in- the Opera House last night Sapper Maurice A. Parsons, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. I arsons, Marne Street, Palmerston North, was presented with a bronze medal and certificate awarded by the Royal Humane Society. The mayor. Mr. Mansford, presided. Sapper Paroons saved an airman from drowning when a plane struck high tension electric wires and crashed into the Manawatu River at Whirokino in January, 1941. Mr. Mansford s commendatory remarks were endorsed by Mr. G. C. Peterson and Mr. Hodgens, M.l.
