Rongotai had the heavier team, but the smaller Horowhenua lads were very fast and nippy, and put up si spirited fight. Within a tew minutes of the opening, a Rongotai rush took {jl®? to the Horowhenua line, and Savage scored a trv which Colquhoun failed to convert Toward the close of the spel . Matthews was the referee. _ A „i.i In the game to see which team wouli dodge the wooden spoon, Hutt valley beat Scots College by 8 points to 5 after a very even tussle. James opened the scoring for Scots with a try, which Phillips converted, and before the spell ended Cartwright scored a try from a good opening made by McArthur, but Prince was unable to add the extra points. Then a good combined movement by the Hutt val O team saw Hathaway score a try behind the posts, which Goldsworthy converted, to give Hutt Valley a win.

Wins For Hutt Valley And Wellington
The primary schools Rugby tournament, in which teams, from Wairarapa, Horowhenua, Hutt Valley and SSelhngto are competing, was continued ou the totone Reserve yesterday afternoon The splendid combination ui the hull Valiev boys proved too much tor the individuality of Wairarapa, Hutt winning bv 20 points to nil. Wairarapa were always more dangerous than the score indicates. Tries for Hutt Valley were scored by Sims (3), Hourigan, and McClure, Reid converting one try and kicking a penary goal. Sims also kicked a penalty goal. The referee was Mr. Haywood. The game between Wellington and Horowhenua was characterized by much luose play, combination by either team not being much in evidence. For Wellington tries were scored by Ballintine, Campbell, and Donoghue, and Donoghue also kicked a penalty goal. Lewis landed a penalty for Horowhenua. Wellington thus won by 1* points to 3. Mr. Flinders was the reieree. The final games will be played on the Hutt Recreation Ground tomorrow afternoon. _____
