NEW COAL AREAS
Suggestion In Australia (By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, August 6.
The opening of new rich seams and improved underground transport have been suggested by the Miners’ Federation to step up coal production to meet Australia’s wartime demands. The miners' general secretary, Mr. G. W. S. Grant, stiid that concentration on richer eonl-produeing areas might entail the closing of some mines to enable the available manpower to be used for greater output.
