Though the scratching pen was freely used when acceptances were received today for the first day’s programme of the Grand National Steeplechase meetln„, there were not many surprise detections. Colonl French, Anglo-French, Nlgat HawK and Song Boy were taken out of the Grana National Steeplechase; and Happy Enuing, Treasurer, Doubleack, Waitoru. Meet Street, The Champ, Rara Avifi, Wgio r e f Kevin, Imperium, Mauretania, and Gold Court were withdrawn from the Cup. From the National Hurdles, on the second day, the only defections were .Strip, Cuisinier.
