WOUNDED MAN LIKELY TO RECOVER
Dominion Special Service. AUCKLAND, August 4
The condition of Mr. Mate Soko Urlich, the Dalmatian gumdigger who received two bullet wounds at Lake Chia, North Auckland, on July 20, is so improved that he is likely to recover. Two operations were performed at the Mangonui Hospital, but no attempt was made to remove the two bullets.
Subsequent to' the wounding of Mr. Urlich on July 20, a police constable, Herbert Hunter Barratt, was charged before justices of the i>eace with attempted murder, and was remanded.
