CABINET APPROVAL

Australian Mortgage Bank CANBERRA, August 4.

The Prime Minister, Mr. Curtin, announces that the Full Cabinet has approved of legislation to establish a mortgage bank. Legislation may be brought down at the Budget session. A mortgage bank was promised by the Labour Party during its attack on the Fadden Government last October, when the Fadden Government was de-, feated. Mr. Curtin also announced that Cabinet had decided today to abandon the proposal to limit profits to 4 per cent, because of the insuperable difficulties in the way of providing for its just application.
