Clerks Under 18 Years For the duration ot' the war duly authorized clerks under the age of 38 years, approved by the Collector of Customs, will be permitted to attend at the customhouse' to transact business on behalf of importers or Customs agents, and to sign such declarations on entries as do not require the formality of witnessing. Advice to this effect has been received from the acting-Minister of Customs, Mr. Nordmeyer, in response to a request by the Associated Chambers of Commerce that persons under IS years might be permitted to make Customs declarations. The Minister expressed regret that the requirements of Section 281 (3) of the Customs Act, 1913, regarding such declarations, could not be departed from to the extent, of permitting persons under 18 to make the ad valorem declarations on Customs entries in accordance with the provisions of Section 115 of the Act.
