Penalty For Assault A man who appeared in tiie Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, on Saturday, and gave the name of Peter Fraser when pleading guilty to a charge of assault, was identified when he came up for sentence yesterday under the name of Francis McLaughlin. Tie is a labourer, aged 35. Police evidence was that McLaughlin had followed a woman into a dark plaee in Hawkestone Street and had grabbed her bv tile neck and pushed her against the wall. Site had got away and sought protection from another man. Accused was then noticed chasing a girl. Mr. Stout, S.M., imposed a sentence of one month's imprisonment.
