CLASH IN CHANNEL

(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, August 2.

An action In the Channel, in which British light coastal craft left German torpedo-boats and E-bouts and coastal batteries lighting one another is described by the Admiralty as “a spirited and highly successful setion." A British patrol engaged German Tilboats and destroyed two and damaged others. Two German torpedo-boats came on the scene, and the British boats scored iiits on both and then retired and watched with interest an action which developed between tlie two German forces. Shona batteries opened fire and added to tlie confusion. All the British boats returned to port with only slight casualties.
