SOVIET SHIP SUNK OFF AMERICA
WASHINGTON, August 2. The Navy Department announced that a Russian merchantman was torpedoed and sunk in the Gulf of Mexico several weeks ago. and eight members of the crew, including two women, were killed. It is tlie first sinking of a Russian ship in American waters aud also the first report of women members of a crew being killed by a torpedo.
