STRANGE PHENOMENA

Submarine Disturbance And Falling’ Stars During the earthquake early on Sunday morning an observer on duty on Hie coast heard a heavy submarine explosion out to sea. Just after the earthquake he and a companion saw what appeared to be an absolute cascade of falling stars, some of which looked just like comets as they streaked through Hie heavens. At least 25 of these were observed. The phenomenon occurred during a period of remarkable quietness immediately after tlie earthquake.
