ONE-SIDED BOXING
Griffin Outpoints Brown A BADLY-MATCHED PAIR With a decided advantage in height and reach, and nearly a fiitene in weight, young Jim Griffin outpointed Billy Brown in a lightweight professional boxing contest in the Town Hall, Wellington, last night. They were not a well-matched pair, as Griffin scaled 10.3 J to Brown’s Employing a crouch, Brown kept boring in throughout the contest in an attempt to land a right cross to -the head, but Griffin played a veritable tattoo of straight lefts to the face, which piled up points. Brown did some clever head-weaving and ducking, and took all that was coming to him in order to get in close. He did land a few rights to the head occasionally and had his heavier opponent troubled a few times, but Griffin boxed coolly and skilfully and showed clever footwork.
