NEW YORK, July 31. Major-General Charles Scott, formerly United States military observer in the Middle East, on his return to America, told reporters that the equipment now produced in the United States will excel the best weapons Romnicd lias used in Libya, though Rommel’s panzer divisions arc excellently equipped. Ho added that the American tanks in Libya had shown surprisingly few defeet's, ami steps had already been taken to correct them. Jiajor-General Scott refused to predict the outcome of the present deadlock in the Egyptian battle, but he said: “If the British attack forcefully now and bent Rommel in his present positions, they will have the best chance they ever had to make the result decisive.”
