MONDAY’S BOXING

The Wellington Boxing Association has arranged an attractive programme for its patrons at the Town Hall on Monday night. The principal event will be a 12rounds professional contest between the well-known lightweights,- Jim Gridin and Billy Brown,'-both ' of whom are in the Army. Gridin is recognized as one of the most scientific professional bojeers in the Dominion, and he increased, his reputation by the finished display he gave against 'Pommy Hanson in Wellington recently. Brown has an impressive record since turning professional, having ecored four wins in the five contests he has had. He beat Hughie Sheridan by a knock-out in Auckland, scored wins over Tot Hoggarth on pointe in Greymouth and Wellington, aud beat Ernie Underwood on points in Auckland recently. Among the attractive amateur preliminary bouts will be a featherweight contest between Lieutenant R. March (Army) and L. Mulholland (Newtown); a light-heavy-weight bout between T. A. Downes (Palmerston North), and G. Dryllc (Railways); a middleweight bout between J. McCann (Traceys) and W. Luddon (Army); and a bantamweight bout between those old rivals, R. Hawes (Heretauuga) ami L. Philp (Railways).
