WROTE ABOUT SHIPPING
For writing about shipping movements in n letter to Dunedin, llthel Alethia Waite was fined £2/19/- and costs by Mr. Stilwell, S.M.. in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday.. DetectiveSergeant AV. McLennan said defendant wits a widow in business in Wellington. She had a son leaving New Zealand and wrote to a mini in Dunedin giving particulars of the movements of a ship. The person to whom the letter was written, he said was one to whom such information should not be given, but. in fairness to defendant it should be stated that she did not know that. He had been asked by the authorities to stress the seriousness of the offence. Defendant pleaded guilty, but said she did not know that, she was committing an offence.
