WOMAN ADMITS ASSAULT
Niwn Josephine Matnrana Chasland admitted in the Magistrates' Court, Wellington, yesterday, assaulting .Margaret. Cusworth, who it was alleged was in a dangerous condition for some days as a result.
Senior-Sergeant. G. J. I'niiie said Chasland, who lived in I'rederivk St reel, visited n house in Tni Su-eet where complainant was, smacked her on the face, knocked her down, kicked her. and was alleged to have struck her on the head with a pipe used as n poker. Il was also alleged, said the senior-sergeani, that, defendant jumped on Cusworth while her v clim was on the ground. Everybody present was under the influence of liquor. Defendant, described Hie making of a provocative remark by Cusworth and a subsequent, quarrel in which she struck the other woman, hilt she denied using anything hut her open hand. "Yon apparently inflicted a serious injury, bin 1 think I have the background," said' Mr. Stilwell, S.M.. fining her £5 and costs.
