AUSTRALIAN-MADE TANKS

(By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Special Australian Correspondent.) SYDNEY, July 29. Australian-made tanks are now strengthening the Commonwealth's defences. They are considered to bo equal in design and performance to tanks of the same type being made in other countries. Massive armouf castings are being made in a New South Wales annexe, and plans are in hand for the establishment of a similar annexe in Victoria. For the Australian tank the entire hull is made in a single casting. In other countries the practice is to make castings in several sections and then weld them together.
