ENJOYABLE DANCE

A.N.A. Comforts’ Committee

The A.N.A. comfbrta committee held another enjoyable social event last night at the A.N.A. Club, Wellington. To inaugurate the opening of the club ballroom for midweek dancing and as a commencement of another year of activity, the committee arranged a dance which proved one of the most delightful yet held there. Funds will go toward club renovations and improvements. Complete arrangements ensured that the gathering was so successful. Floral decorations and a delicious savoury supper were the work of committee members. Two floor shows were presented. Miss Marjorie Vause and Miss Jan Kelly danced a number, “Roses in December, and Miss Vause gave a solo item, Stardust,” Mr, Eric Harrison being the accompanist. A special feature was the music for dancing played by an orchestra comprising overseas visitors, who generously gave their services as a mark of appreciation of the work the comforts committee is doing. The annexe danceroom was cosily arranged for sitting out, Women of the committee responsible for the dance were Mrs. H. F. O’Leary, chairman. Miss Myra Cohen, honorary secretary, due to whose untiring work the event was largely so successful, and Mesdames R. V. Goddard, R. C. Burton, F. E. Herbert, L. Blundell, L. H. Angus, A. McKinnon, W. A. Breach, E. Luke, M. O. Barnett, J. Murray, F. E. Bailey, G. Wilson, E. Puttick, D. Gordon, C. Quane. Mrs. R. B. Gibbons also gave valuable assistance. Uniforms worn by men guests were much in evidence and mingled with the many beautiful evening frocks worn by the women.
