SECOND FRONT
Clamour Disloyal To Leaders SIR CYRIL NEW ALL’S OPINION “There Is at the moment a clamour for a second front. We till want to see a second front and are longing for the day when we can with our Allies attack our enemies who are ravaging the countries which have been overrun,” naid the Governor-General, bit Cyril Newall, when speaking at the Wellington branch of the Overseas League last night. “The moment for such au operation is not for you and me to choose: it is a matter of _ the highest strategy and must be decided by. our ehosen leaders, who know all the facts. It is disloyaj to them to confuse the issues and add to their burdens,” he continued. “We all want to help the gallant Russians, whose heroism has inspired us and whose present sufferings appal us, but a mere invasion of Europe would not help them. It must be a successful invasion, and who but our leaders can judge how and when a successful invasion can be launched.' Public clamour can only result _iu greater preparations by our enemies, which must mean unnecessary casualties when au Invasion is made.”
