DANGEROUS GROUNDS

Boy Threatened With Loss Of Eye The dangerous state of the playing area at Rongotai College was referred to by the principal, Mr. F. M. Renner, iu a report to the Wellington Colleges Board of Governors yesterday. He said that several boys had broken limbs and one was threatened with the loss of an eye. “The surroundings of the school are a positive disgrace—dirty, unkempt, auu unhealthy. The games standard has fallen and SGO boys are restricted and cooped up at a time when they need all the freedom thev can get,” his report continued. “Much of this 1 can forgive and perhaps forget, but there is a good deal which I cannot forget, because the lack of what we now need has been brought about by hesitancy, shilly-shally-ing, and inability of the authorities To make up their minds.” Representations about school grounds were also made by the Rongotai Parents’ Association, aud the board decided to ask the chairman of the association to accompany the board chairman as a deputation to the Director of Education Dr. C. E. Beeby. "It w a question whether there will be any grounds lett soon” Mr. D. McKenzie commented.
