AIR-RAID SHELTERS

Tunnels Nearly Completed

The tunnel projects which were undertaken in Wellington as an integral part of the air-raid shelter scheme, are now practically finished, and could be used at any time if an emergency arose. Concrete lining is being carried out in damp sections of certain of the tunnels. Meanwhile the construction of all surface shelters in various stages of completion is still held up while the labour is engaged on work which has greater priority, though only a small amount of work has to be done to some to make them usable.
