D.F.C. AWARDED
Dunedin Airman (Received July 28, 11.30 p.m.) LONDON, July 27. Flying Officer Andrew Frederick Tye, aged 21, Dunedin, has been awarded the D.F.C. The citation states: “Ho has completed operational flying tasks often in bad weather. He is a skilful, fearless pilot, who had three times determinedly attacked U-boats, and once made a successful night lan'ding from an operational flight after one engine had ceased to function.” Tye enlisted in 1939, and was commissioned in 1940.
