N.Z. NAVAL MEN IN PLYMOUTH
Lady Astor’s Kindness (By Telegraph.—l J ress Assn.—Copyright.) (Special Correspondent.) LONDON, July 27. “Your boys from New Zealand could not have been nicer. I have never yet met any here who have not been tops,” Miss P. Tuckett, Y.M.C.A. hostess at Plymouth, told the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Mr. Jordan, when he visited the city. Mr. Jordan called on Lord Astor, the Lord Mayor, to thank him and Lady Astor, M.l’., for all they have done for men of the New Zealand Navy who stay in the city. Lady Astor has received many letters from New Zealanders thanking her for her kindness in arranging for them to spend their leave at private homes and golf clubs. Mr. Jordan met 50 New Zealanders at the naval barracks, commanded by Commodore L. C. P. Tudway, D. 5.0., D.S.C., who was in New Zealand from 1936 till 1939.
