Passenger’s Attack On Taxi Driver (By /Telegraph —Press Association.) AUCKLAND, July 27. Au attack by a passenger on the driver of a taxicab occurred iu Herue Bay tonight, when a Checker Cab Company driver was struck on the head wVh a bar of iron. The victim was Cyril Frank Ernest Bartrum, aged 26; married. The police have made an arrest. Bartrum’s taxicab was carrying a man passenger. It is stated that when the vehicle came to rest the passenger, who was in the back seat, struck the driver heavily on the head with a bar of iron. Though a fairly severe wound was inflicted on his head Bartrum quickly climbed into the rear compartment of the vehicle and grappled with 1-is assailant Neighbours came to his assistance.
