Extension To Be Made

The lauding field of Hie Rongotai Aerodrome, is to be considerably extended shortly, when Kingsford Smith Street and the Centennial Exhibition ground frontage to that street to a depth of approximately 250 yards are to be taken in. The work will be carried out by the Public "Works Department. The United Kingdom Pavilion lias been removed from the exhibition grounds and the Australian pavilion is also to go. Tile group of smaller buildings on Hie Kingsford Smith Street frontage, the former administration buildings, now used as Hie Air Force Station otiiees, anil the former jiolice ami ambulance rooms are to be moved back.

Tile airport's present cast-west runway is about 750 yards iu effective length, and the setting back of Hie boundary will give about 1000 yards. During Hie past year big improvements have been made at Hie eastern, northeastern, and south-eastern parts of tlie field, to increase north-east and south-west runs to 800 ytirds and runs into south-south-east mid uorth-norlli-wesl winds Io S5O yards.
