£20,000,000 For Defence I Received November 15. 9.3(1 p.m.) LONDON, November 14. The new Dutch half-yearly Budget provides 91.0U0.009 guilders, which is over £20,000.000 for defence. The total Budget is 98,000,000 guilders, of which 79,000.000 must be raised by various means. It is announced th.it the deficit is being covered from the gold reserve, which, however, will as far as possible be kept intact to cover Dutch notes circulating throughout I lie world and also for post-war reconstruction. The Government of tile Dutch East Indies has abandoned plans for the construction of a warship because it could not be completed under present conditions. The enlargement of the naval base at Sourabaya is being continued.
