EIRE BASES ISSUE
Pointed American Comment LONDON. November 14. Newspapers in the United States continue to discuss the refusal of Eire to allow the United Kingdom the use of ports as anti-submarine bases. The Cleveland “Plain-Dealer” says: ••Without Britain. Without the Royal Navy and the Royal Air Force. Mr. de Valera and his compatriots could not be neutral. Without Britain, neutrality would vanish, ami.the Irish army could not keep ‘the Old Sod’ inviolate.” The Arkansas ■’Gazette” says: "If Hiller overwhelms Britain, what next could Eire expect? Would he leave Eire io live her own national life?”
