HOME GUARD

Area Commander For North Canterbury The appointment, of Captain George Justin Humplireys Reid, Rotherham, North Canterbury, as area commander of the Home Guard for North Canterbury. was announced last evening by the'Minister of National Service, Mr. Semple. Captain Reid served witli the New Zealand Expeditionary Force from 1916 to 1919 in the Canterbury Mounted Rilles. He saw service in Egypt and Palestine, and in 1918 was appointed adjutant of his unit. He was wounded and returned to New Zealand in 1919. Captain Reid is a tinnier who is well known th roti ghoul, ibv whole of North Canterbury, and has had considerable experience ou local bodies in his own district.
