HOME GUARD
Meeting At Island Bay A well-attended meeting of the Island Bay Home Guard sub-area, under the chairniatisliip of .Mr. Doogan. was held on Tuesday night. Mr. McKeon, M.r., spoke on the urgency of organization of tiie whole population of New Zealand in readiness for possible invasion. Colonel A. Con les said that instructors were now available, and that lite mimes ami boundaries of sub-areas would be announced, and snb-commit-tees would be asked to recommend leaders for the units. All men til to bear :trms. if not already in the Defence Forces, would be posted to the military section of the Home Guard, ami older Ulen would bo allocated duties according to their capacity, lit answer lo a question. he said that public servants and corporation employees were eligible for membership in lite Home Guard, and wort' encouraged to join. After the meeting a number of men enrolled.
