SONG GROUP MEETS British Music Society
The song group of tlie British Alusic Society had "an interesting meeting recently Under the direction of Hie group leader, Airs. Audrey Gibson-Foster. The programme opened witli a discussion on “Aly Approach to the Study of a Song.” Several members gave their views on the subject, and the result was both instructive and entertaining. This was followed by a delightful programme of songs ranging from lieder to modern English. Members who contributed cither songs or to the ..discussion were Alesdames Comes, '.lotin AVood, Dulcie Sincock, Misses Anne Gilpin, Ruth Sell, Vivienne Blainires, Muriel Hitchings, Iris Potter, Irma Burge, and Janet Stirling, Alessrs. L. J. Hopkins, Gordon King, and Clement Howe. The accompaniments were played by Airs. GibsonFoster and Airs. K. O. Thomson. Particularly charming were three songs sung by students from AVellington East Girls’ College, who were presented by Aiiss Joan Ellis. These songs wore accompanied by pinjio and a recorder, played by two of the girls. The next meeting of the group is to be held in December, and will be devoted to Christmas music, including some unusual carols.
