More than 1800 skilled dock workers and railwaymen are members of Royal Engineers units, equipped witii teehni cal and practical knowledge, now. employed removing debris and repairing pipe lines in London thoroughfares. A Supplementary Reserve unit, founded in 1938, it was at the outbreak of war the first unit to enter France and tlie last to leave.
