ANGLERS' DINNER
Opening Of Fishing Season A. bappv and congenial atmosphere prevailed at the Tokaanu Hotel on a recent Saturday night, when visiting anglers assembled for the anglers’ dinner to celebrate the opening of the 1040-41 fishing season. In spite of disappointing weather, some very good fishing was enjoyed by tbc many visitors from Wellington. Auckland. Hamilton. New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Rotorua and laianaki. , Eighty guests sat down to tables decorated with clematis and roses. Among the flowers were novelty menus decorated with miniature rods and rainbows, and written in a language that only the experienced angler could appreciate. A short toast list was honoured. Those called upon were: F. Farrell (’Hamilton). R. Beresford (lauinarurui), J. Connell (New Plymouth). AA. Somerville and L. Rothschild (Wellington), T. Hurley and C. Bridger (Tokaanu). , After the dinner the guests crossed to the Tokaanu Hall, which had been decorated with the aid of huge tree ferns and transformed into a beautiful fernery. Here dancing was enjoyed. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Beresford. Mr. and Mrs. Richards. Mr R. Smith (Taumarunui), Mr. and Mrs. J. Connell, Mr. and Miss Lawler, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell (New Plymouth), Airs. Carrington, Miss Jolly, Mrs. Gihs (Auckland), Mr. Alexander (Dunedin), Air. L. Rothschild, Mr. AV. Somerville (Wellington), Mr. Selby, Mr. Langbein (AVellington), Mrs. E. AL Jenkins and Mrs. A. G. Mills (Wanganui).
