LOAN TO WAR FUNDS

Money Raised To Entertain Australian Ex-Soldiers Dominion Special Service. MASTERTON, May 9. In July, 1939, MastertoSi members o£ the Wairarapa R.S.A. committee conducted a “diggers’ market” to raise funds for the entertainment of a large party of Australian ex-servicemen who were to visit the Dominion during the centennial celebrations and take part in the 19-10 Anzac Day ceremony. This visit was postponed, and as the funds raised could not he used for the purpose for .which they were intended the Masterton committee unanimously decided to lend £6OO to the Government for the duration of the war.
