One of the most trusting young women in Christchurch lives in Papanui. Every day she rides her bicycle to the nearest tram stop, on Papanui Road, and leaves it leaning against a hedge while she goes on to work in the tram. In spite of the fact that the police, in the past few years, have reduced the thefts of bicycles to a minimum, few city people would risk their'machines every day in the same way.
