93 YESTERDAY
New Zealand-Born Pioneer The 93rd birthday of Mrs. Mary Slatter, Hataitai, Wellington, was cele.: brated with a quiet .family party yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Slatter was born in Nelson on May 9, 1847. Her parents arrived by the Fifeshire on Fehr nary' 1, 1842. She is still quite active, and does the cooking and sewing for her household. She takes a keen interest in all current events and can relate many reminiscences of early pioneering days. She has four daughters living, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The daughters are Mrs. J. Henderson, Johnsonville; Mrs. Jordan, Christchurch; Miss Maude Slatter, Hataitai: and Mrs. Berry, Australia. Mrs. -Slatter was the recipient of many lovely floral gifts and telegrams.
