Fifty Workers Dismissed (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, .May 8. Beeau.se of an alleged shortage of logging tractors, 50 inen employed on the new State Forest Services timber mill at -Whakarewarcwa, near Rotorua, have been dismissed, according to advice received by Mr. W. Sea tor, president of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union and secretary of the South Auckland branch of the union. Mr. Senior commented today on the seriousness of the situation, coming soon after a request by the Commissioner of State Forests, the lion. F. Langstone, for co-operation in the transfer of men from Public Works jobs to the timber industry. lie said he was at a loss to know why operations at a State mill should be held up for want of tractors when, with (lie tapering off of Public 'Works, tractors suitable for logging purposes should be made available.
