COAL PRODUCTION
Increase On West Coast (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GREYMOUTH, May 7. The response to the appeal of the Minister of Mines, Mr. Webb, for increased coal production is shown in figures for coal exported from Greymouth for (lie four-weekly period to the end of April. The total of 17.154 tons represents an increase of 5229 tons, or -14 per cent, in comparison with the same period last year. Except for one co-operative mine, every mine in the district, showed a substantial increase in output.
