River Steamer Capsizes Above Pipiriki CAPTAIN AND DECKHAND ESCAPE Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, May 7. It is feared that three men were drowned four miles above Pipiriki late yesterday afternoon when tlie river steamer Obtira overturned in a rapid when carrying a cargo of cattle The men were: — Mr. R. Gray, engineer, married. Mr. G. Ropata, deckhand, married, with eight children. Mr. Te Hori, deckhand. married, returned soldier. Little was known of the disaster till a steamer went up the river from Pipiriki and found the Ohura upside down and several dead cattle floating down tlie river. Captain A. Anderson and his nephew, another deckband, managed to escape from the Obtira.
