YEHUDI MENUHIN
To Stay In Australia For A Month Though Yehudi Menuhin, the famous violinist, stated when passing through xVickland that he was visiting Australia only on holiday, he is to make several appearances in the Commonwealth. It has been announced that he will, stay a month.' in Australia, so that possibly four of the chief centres will hoar him. In Sydney he said that when next he appeared in New York he womd give his fee Io the Palestine Conservatorium of Music in Jerusalem. This institution trains refugees from Europe and residents of _ Palestine without regard to race, nationality or religion. On more I han one occasion Menuhin has demonstrated the compassionate feeling he 'has for oppressed peoples. In London last May he gave a concert for Jewish refugees which raised more than £OOOO. Though Menuhin was born in New York, Ids parents are Knssian Jews, who knew oppression during their early life in Ibeir home by the Black Sea. .Menuhin is now said to be a mimoaali’ft.
