ENJOYABLE SHAKESPEARIAN READING
The Mav meeting of the Wellington Shakespeare Society was held in the New Zealand Educational Institute rooms recently, Jlr. C. E. .Feltham presiding. ‘The Merchant of Venice” was read by members to an appreciative audience. The principal parts were taken by Mrs. F. Burgess (Portia), Jlr. E. C. Harvie (Shylock), Mr. Bloore (Bassano), and Mr. C. E. Felthani (Antonio). Others who took part in the reading were Jlesdames J. A. Bagnall, E. C. Harvie, Bloore and Walcott, Jliss S. Williams, Messrs. J. P. Nicoll, S. F. McLean, F. Pears, W. O. Phillips, and Richardson, btuge directions were read by Mr. F. J. Jones.
Croquet Club Annual Meeting. The twelfth annual meeting of the Woburn Croquet Club was held recently. The president, Mrs. W. N. Walker, presided over a large attendance of members. The finances were found to be very satisfactory, and Um following committee was elected: President, Mrs. G. F. Martin; patronesses, Mesdames J. W. Andrews and J. Mitchell; vice-president, Mrs. H. Coatman; secretary, Mrs. C. Monks; treasurer, Mrs. P. Boberts; captain, Mrs. K. Lockett; tea convener, Mrs. K. Lockett; delegate to the Wellington Association, Mesdames K. Lockett and C. Monks; delegates to the bowling club, Mesdames G. F. Martin, W. N. Walker and C. Monks; general and sport committee: Mesdames W. N. Walker, McIntosh, Jones, Sutcliffe, H. Coalman, Trikett, P. Roberts, Jameson, and officers.
