Reports Of Meetings

Pahiatua. — Arrangements were made ■to send five more parcels to the patriotic society in June. Mrs. Paterson gave a talk on the part, women of England were playing in the present war. The “golden thread” talk on Thomas Greig was given by Mrs. D. Bissot. Competitions were held. Mrs. E. B. Watson presided over a large attendance. Mesdames McDonald and Gardiner were, appointed delegates to the Woodville council meeting, and Mrs. Watson to represent the , institute at the Dominion federation council meeting in July. Lindsay.— A short talk, Holidays Spent,” was given by Mrs. Vincent and Mrs. Selibie. The meeting was held at the residence of Mrs. Rex Mexted, Mrs. Selibie presiding. Competitions were held, and afternoon tea was served by the Porcutawhao. — The first meeting of the year was held l recently, Mrs. Tabor welcoming those present. A bring and buy stall was held, Mesdames Carle and Spiers being in charge. Mrs. Spiers read a play, after which Mrs. Chiureh demonstrated the mailing of lampshades from crepe paper. A wool-winding competition was held, and part of the afternoon was spent in knitting for men on overseas service. The resignation of Mrs. S. Ki'lsby was received with regret. Jlanakau.— Mrs. Staples, vice-presi-dent. presided in the absence of Mrs. Robinson. The meeting took the form of a social afternoon, being the _ first gathering of the year. Mrs. Robinson and Mrs. Guerin were appointed delegates to the annual federation meeting in Levin. Final arrangements were made for the annual ball on May 20. lit was decided to send four parcels each month to soldiers overseas. The retiring president, Mrs. Staples, and the retiring secretary, Mrs. Dorset, received presentations. Mrs. Staples won the balaclava competition.
