The wartime custom of obliterating the names of British ships from their bulls —iu addition to other methods of obscuring their identity—has resulted in the appearance on overseas vessels of large hoards secured above the navigating bridge carrying the name )u clear lettering. The sign is clearly visible at some distance and can be employed when required lq estublish iJiQ vessel's identity.
