Patriotic Fund Swelled (From “The Dominion,” May 5, 1915). At the Plimmer-Hall entertainment in Masterton last night another flag was auctioned, and the New Zealand patriotic fund will benefit by the £796 realized. This sum constitutes a record, no similar auction conducted by the company having brought so much, * * One result of tiie great extension of the telephone system in the Taumarunui district is that the carrier-pigeon service on the Wanganui River is falling into disuse.
