A proposal that, in view of the cutting off of supplies of wrapping paper from Scandinavia and the lack of facilities in New Zealand to replace them to any extent, housewives should carry goods home in baskets wherever possible was made by Mr. Gainor Jackson in a letter to the Auckland Chamber of Commerce. A recent shortage of tin had also affected supplies of solder, but this could be obtained from old joints and not wasted as at present.
