CANTERBURY MARKETS

May Increment Goes On To Wheat (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. The May increment of Id. a bushel went on to wheat this week, bringing prices to the following levels: Tuscan u/8, Hunters 5/10, pearl 6/-. and marquis 6/2. A good inquiry continues for seed wheat for autumn sowing. There have been no developments concerning the Australian embargo on New Zealand potatoes, and the local market is inclined to be slightly easier. Some inquiries have been received from the North Island, mostly from Auckland. It is reported that local growers have been holding their potatoes on the chance of an export market. Quotation remains at up to £4 a ton at handy stations. Markets for seeds remain quiet at previous prices.
