CONTRABAND CONTROL
.(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 1. On April 30 there were -29 neutral ships in the three contraband control bases, of which 19 had been there for six days or less. In addition, 36 ships have been brought in or are detained by order of the Ministry of Economic Warfare in view of the situation in Norway and Denmark. During the week ended April 27 the contraband committees considered the cargoes of S 3 ships which arrived since April 20 and 52 outstanding cargoes from the previous week. In 56 cases entire cargoes were released either on first consideration or after inquiries. Fifty-seven vessels were dealt with under the advance manifest system, 14 of which were released subject to merely formal checking of the original manifests.
