Prime Minister And Colonel Hargest

A compliment to Colonel J. Hargest, M.P. for Awarua, officer commanding the sth Infantry Brigade, was paid by the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, addressing the party of Southland farmers and their wives, at present visiting Wellington, at an official dinner at the Exhibition last night. “I must mention Colonel Hargest, the brigadier of the Second Echelon,” said Mr. Fraser. “Ho Is a Southland man. Since the outbreak of the war, no man has rendered more assistance to me than Colonel Hargest. He enjoys the fullest confidence, not only of the military authorities, but of the Government.”
