Angland—-Carnegie
The wedding took place in St. Patrick’s Church, Napier, oil Easter Monday, of Rene, only daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. J. C. Carnegie, Dunedin, and Daniel, younger son of the late Mr. and Mrs. D. Angland, Albury, South Canterbury. The bride, who was given away by her uncle, Mr. E. A. Foote, Dannevirke, wore a plain, fitting gown of parchment coloured chantilly lace over cream satin, the skirt being slightly flared into a train and the only trimming a spray of orange blossom at the corsage. A silver halo, trimmed with a tiny spray of orange blossom on either side, held in place the tulle veil which fell into a long train. A sheaf of easter lilies was carried. Mrs. C. Hassell, Napier, was matron of honour. She wore a pale blue floral chiffon gown over deep blue satin. The flower girl, Miss Natricia Solomon, also of Napier, wore a blue tulle anklelength frock over deep blue satin. Both attendants wore cyclamen sashes reaching the hem line and carried blue tulle muffs trimmed with a spray of cyclamen and blue flowers. These colours were repeated in a circle of flowers edged with a frill of blue tulle, which was worn on the head.
The best man was Mr. Derek MooreWright, Napier. After the ceremony a buffet reception was given at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Hassell. Cobden Road, Napier. The guests were received by Mrs. Carnegie, the bride’s mother, asisted by Mr. C. Hassell, the former wearing a smart black ensemble and hat to match and carrying a bouquet of cyclamen flowers. The bride travelled in a smartlytailored black pin-stripe costume and black hat with grey accessories.
Gamman —Nicol
A military wedding took place in St. Matthew’s Church, Auckland, recently, when Mona Myrene, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. IV. Nicol, Marlborough, was married to Lieutenant G. A. Gamman, Forestry Company, second echelon, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, only son of Mrs. M. Gamman, "Wanganui. Canon R. G. Coats officiated. The bride, who was given away by Mr. IV. J. Grieg, wore a powder blue ensemble with cuffs of grey fur, and a grey picture hat. She carried a bouquet of pink dahlias and roses. She was attended by Mrs. D. Milne, who wore a dove grey suit and matching hat and a shoulder spray of autumn-tinted flowers. The bridegroom was attended by Lieutenant G. Burgess, also of the Forestry Company, as best man. A reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. IV. J. Grieg, Epsom, where Mrs. Nicol received the guests wearing a ’black sequinned frock and a panne velvet hat. Mrs.. Grieg wore a black frock with a scarlet shoulder spray. At the reception a presentation was made of an engraved clock from the Forestry Company officers.
Robinson —Holdsworth
A very quiet wedding took place in the chapel of St. Matthew’s Church, Masterton, recently when Joan Speedy, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. Holdsworth, was married to George Austen, Lieutenant, N.Z.E.F., only son of Mr. and- Mrs. O. Robinson, Rathmore Street, Timaru. The ceremony was performed by the Ven. Archdeacon Rich and Mr. Miller Hope was at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her ftaher, wore a gown of creme lace and tulle over taffeta, which had been worn by her mother, and carried a sheaf of blue and pale pink flowers. Attending her as bridesmaid was her sister, Miss Marion Holdsworth, who wore a patterned frock in autumn shades, and carried a bouquet to tone. The best man was Lieutenant Mcllroy. Wellington. After the reception at the home of the bride’s parents, “Aeono,” Sussex Street, Masterion, Lieutenant and Mrs. Robinson left for'a brief honeymoon,
Oliver—Findlay
The marriage of Gladys Jessie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Findlay, Palmerston Street, Hamilton, and Frederick Francis, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oliver, Wellington, was celebrated in St. Andrew’s Church, The Terrace, recently. The Rev. Brian Kilroy officiated. The decorations in the church carried out the main colour scheme of the bridal party, hydrangeas and dahlias being effectively used. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of horiton lace over dull parchment satin. It was cut on simple lines, with a slightly gathered bodice, a round neckline, and a full, circular skirt which fell into a long train. Her only ornament was an heirloom brooch which was a wedding gift of the bride’s great grandmother. Her veil was fine tulle gathered into a topknot of orange blossom, and she carried a bouquet of roses and gladioli. The bridesmaids were Miss Ngaire Findlay, sister of the bride (chief), Miss Peggy Byers, and Miss Doris Weldon (neice of the bridegroom). Their frocks were blue figured organza over taffeta, with close fitting bodices and skirts fully flared from the waist, square necklines, and puffed sleeves. They wore on their heads organza bows with flowers of deep purple to tone with their bouquets, which were of gladioli arid sweet sultans. The best man was Mr. J. Oliver, and Messrs. Harry and Don Findlay acted as ushers. During the signing of the register a solo was given by Mrs. W. McLaren. Mrs. Findlay received, her guests wearing a charming gown of mulberry brocade with matching accessories. Assisting her was Mrs. 11. Weldon, sister of the bridegroom, wearing midnight blue cioque. Also present was the bride’s grandmother, wearing a becoming black frock. Shoulder sprays were worn by all three.
