Representative Match With Canterbury KING’S BIRTHDAY GAME Confirmation of the annual match between the Wellington and Canterbury representative Soccer teams in Wellington on the King's Birthday holiday, June 3, was contained in a letter from the Canterbury Football Association read at last night’s meeting of the management committee of the Wellington Football Association. The Canterbury management committee also accepted June 22 as the date for the return match in Christchurch. It was suggested that Wellington might send a boys’ representative team, if the boys would pay their own expenses, to play the curtain-raiser to the senior representative game at English Park on June 22. It was decided to refer the suggestion of sending a boys’ team to the Junior management committee. The senior selector, Mr. E. J. Gates, was instructed to select players for training.
Following a discussion on the desirability of ah interchange of visits between Auckland and Wellington, it was decided to issue a challenge to Auckland for the F.A. Trophy. It was suggested that any date after June 22 would be suitable for Wellington. “I regard .this as a landmark in our history,” said the chairman, Mr. J. Meltzer, wheh a report was received of the establishment of a Soccer club at Victoria University College. The club will play in the second B division. Permission was granted the Miramar Rangers Club senior and third division teams to play Napier High School Old Boys in Wellington, on June 1 and the question of grounds was referred to the fixtures committee. The following transfers were approved :—E. Garrod, Seatoun to Miramar Rangers, N. Romanus, Diamond to Marist; J. Gerondis, Institute Old Boys to Marist; M. Quirke and W. Quirke, Marist., to Hospital; D. Watkins, Miramar Rangers to Seatoun; R. Cullen, Scottish Wanderers to Seatoun; N. -J. McDonald, Petone to Lower Hutt; L. J. Tointon, Technical Old Boys to Diamond; G. McKay, Petone to Moera Stop Out; O. Bold, Diamond to Moera Stop Out; E. D. Stevens, Scottish ’Wanderers to Institute ; S. W. Pettinger, Lower Hutt to Diamond; J. Boddy, Y.M.O.A. (Auckland) to Diamond; I. Carpenter, Stop Out to Marist. Senior fixtures for Saturday week, May 11, were announced as follows: — First A Division. Marist v. Swifts, Basin Reserve, No. 1. 2.45 p.m. Waterside v. Technical Old Boys, Basin Reserve, No. 2, 2.45 p.m. Hospital v. Institute Old Boys, at Porirua, 2.30 p.m. Seatoun v. Petone, Petone Recreation Ground, 2.45 p.m. First B Division, 2.45 p.m. . Diamond v. Nada, Kelburn Park. Onslow v. Lower Hutt, Hutt Recreation Ground. Miramar Rangers v. Stop Out, Crawford Green. Moera Stop Out v. Training College (ground to be arranged). Mr. J. Meltzer presided there were also present Messrs. J. J. Kean, A. J. Costello, E. J. Gates, F. Cutter, A. Lindsay, J. H. Janes, J. Houston, C. Ballard and W. J. Arcus (secretary).
